About the role

Western State Hospital is seeking a full-time Store Warehouse Specialist II/Storekeeper to maintain a clothing store for 250+ clients. This role aims to improve the quality of life for clients by providing teachable retail shopping and work experiences while fostering a sense of pride in appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Clothes aRe Us store, staging room, and Volunteer Services designated area in Materials Management, creating and sustaining a retail store atmosphere for clients.
  • Receive, process, and document all donations promptly, ensuring items are inspected for damages or stains, sorted by type or size, labeled, and stored within two days of receipt.
  • Complete clothing requests and distribute items within two days of receiving the request.
  • Maintain a daily list of clothing distributions, including the client's name, ward, and amount of clothing issued.
  • Prepare discharge items as requested by the Director of Volunteer Services within the appropriate time frame for client discharge dates.
  • Prepare and distribute reports to the Volunteer Services Director as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid Virginia Driver’s license.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse individuals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and move items.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College courses in recreation or related fields (preferred).
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation activities (preferred).
  • Bilingual skills (preferred).
  • Veteran or veteran spouse status (preferred).

Pay

$35,012 to $45,000 per year.

Under Virginia Code 37.2-314 and 37.2-408.1, DBHDS cannot employ individuals convicted of specific ("barrier") crimes or those with pending "barrier" charges.
