Store Sales Associate

About the role

The Sales Associate delivers excellent customer service and applies knowledge of merchandise to achieve high customer satisfaction. This role requires a proactive, vigilant individual who engages with customers, demonstrates integrity, communicates effectively, and works well in a dynamic retail setting. The Sales Associate contributes to a positive work culture, drives employee involvement, and supports change management within the retail organization.

Responsibilities

• Processes freight and assists with price changes/markdowns.
• Balances register according to company policy.
• Bags merchandise efficiently during customer transactions.
• Handles cash, checks, and credit cards correctly and per company policy.
• Obtains management approval for returns, voids, and checks when needed.
• Performs maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Provides customer service, including greeting customers, following fitting room policies, ringing customers promptly, thanking them for shopping, and inviting them to return.
• Follows all safety procedures and maintains a professional, neat appearance, including wearing a name tag.
• Assists management in merchandising the sales floor according to stock levels.
• Explains exchange/refund policies to customers after transactions.
• Assists the Store Manager with Loss Prevention procedures, including preventing shoplifting and cash losses, reporting theft or dishonesty, and following operational policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
