About the role

The Store Manager/Store Manager 2 oversees all facets of store operations and directly influences the performance of everyone who interacts with guests. Using GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model (the Circle of Life), the Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized solutions for every guest, providing outstanding guest service, and supporting the overall store environment to meet or exceed sales and profit goals. This position supervises a retail staff that may vary based on store size, location, and expected sales volume.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead in a multi-unit capacity.
  • Provide and model best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions/concerns courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and thank guests for shopping.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and guest relationships.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, including handling cash and providing receipts.
  • Respond to guest inquiries in person or by phone promptly and professionally.
  • Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain high-performing associates.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before working shifts independently.
  • Communicate regularly with store associates and District Manager to implement store initiatives.
  • Set guest service expectations and train associates in job responsibilities, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates, Retail Keyholders, and Assistant Store Managers.
  • Schedule store associates while adhering to guidelines and accounting for breaks and meals.
  • Supervise staffing levels to ensure optimal guest service at all times.
  • Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify accurate payment for all hours worked.
  • Provide timely recognition and feedback to associates, including written feedback in the HR system.
  • Ensure store areas, including restrooms, are neat, clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines.
  • Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
  • Perform store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and organize products on the sales floor.
  • Protect company assets through inventory control, loss prevention, scam awareness, and safety best practices.
  • Lead the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transactions accurately in the POS system.
  • Complete closeout paperwork for daily transactions and bank deposits correctly.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct merchandise counts, and report issues to the District Manager.
  • Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, addressing hazardous situations immediately.
  • Report injuries promptly per company guidelines.
  • Maintain organized store records and files, ensuring manuals are up to date.
  • Form professional partnerships with military personnel on assigned bases (applies to stores on military bases).
  • Adhere to all GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.

Requirements

  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of retail management experience required.
  • At least 3 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and convey instructions to others.
  • Execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy.
  • Achieve objectives and lead in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Work 40 hours per week with flexibility for extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
  • Manage pressure and adapt to stressful situations without impacting guest interactions.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to use good judgment.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Stand and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Bend, stoop, crouch, balance, stretch, reach, climb ladders, and lift merchandise up to 30 lbs. from ground level to 4 feet.
  • Working understanding of military ranks and insignia (applies to stores on military bases).

Pay

$23.13–$31.13 per hour.
