About the Role
The Store Manager - Unassigned is responsible for learning the company’s culture and operations while preparing to manage a store location within 6 to 12 months. This role requires relocation readiness and focuses on developing leadership, merchandising, shrink control, and operational skills. The Store Manager - Unassigned will act as a role model, leader, problem-solver, and strategic thinker, managing time and resources to achieve budgeted goals and maintain high store morale.
Responsibilities
- Promote Family Farm and Home’s mission statement and family values while fostering an aggressive sales culture with a focus on superior customer service.
- Lead and motivate a team by hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and evaluating team members.
- Maintain professionalism, positive store morale, and ensure execution of all store job responsibilities.
- Oversee store operations, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and following up on work results.
- Provide feedback to corporate teams, such as buyers and district managers.
- Manage full profit and loss accountability for individual store locations, including budget preparation, expenditure scheduling, variance analysis, and corrective actions.
- Identify customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and supporting local community groups.
- Ensure merchandise availability by approving contracts and maintaining inventories.
- Protect inventory and company assets by managing theft prevention and damage control in accordance with company policy.
- Verify merchandise is received, stored, and merchandised according to operational and safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean store environment by complying with legal requirements.
- Analyze operating and financial statements and departmental sales records to determine marketing strategy changes.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, and networking.
- Enforce operational and personnel policies and procedures to ensure consistent store operations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors or company officials.
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage with limited supervision.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers, vendors, and associates.
- Comfort with hiring, firing, and managing team members.
- Understanding of aggressive customer service and team-oriented environments.
- Strong management and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and use statistical or numerical data for merchandise and operational decision-making.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, move and handle boxes of merchandise, climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Commitment to relocate within 6 to 12 months after completing training.
