About the role

The Store Manager is responsible for all facets of store operations and directly influences the performance of everyone who interacts with guests. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest, providing outstanding guest service experiences, and supporting the overall store environment to meet or exceed sales and profit goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead store operations in a multi-unit capacity.
  • Provide and model best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns courteously, assist guests with their video gaming needs, and prioritize guests over tasks.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships.
  • Process guest purchases and return transactions accurately using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone professionally.
  • Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain high-performing associates.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before working shifts independently.
  • Communicate regularly with store associates and District Manager to implement all GameStop store initiatives.
  • Set guest service expectations, train associates in job responsibilities, and supervise tasks delegation.
  • Schedule store associates, ensuring compliance with guidelines and accounting for breaks and meals.
  • Supervise staffing levels to maintain optimum guest service.
  • Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify accurate payment for all hours worked.
  • Provide timely performance feedback and recognition to associates.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized store environment, including restrooms and fixtures.
  • Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
  • Perform store inventory counts, stock and restock merchandise, and organize products on the sales floor.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control, loss prevention, and safety practices.
  • Lead the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transactions accurately in the POS system.
  • Complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits correctly and daily.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct merchandise inventories.
  • Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, addressing hazardous situations promptly.
  • Report injuries per company guidelines and maintain organized store records.
  • Form professional partnerships with military personnel on assigned bases (if applicable).
  • Adhere to all GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.

Requirements

  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work legally in the United States.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of retail management experience required; 3 years of retail sales, guest service, or leadership experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

Skills

  • Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • Meet leadership performance expectations, including attendance, personal appearance, and workplace respect.
  • Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) computer systems and perform basic mathematics and alphabetizing.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and follow written or oral instructions.
  • Execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and manage pressure constructively.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to use good judgment.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the store for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Bend, stoop, crouch, balance, stretch, reach, climb ladders, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Working understanding of military ranks and insignia (if applicable).

Schedule

Work 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work extended hours/days as necessary, including nights, weekends, some holidays, and occasional overtime.

Pay

$21.00 - $29.00 per hour.
