Store Manager in Training

About the Role

Assist the store manager in sales, store appearance, and overall operations while receiving hands-on training to prepare for a management position in another store or future location. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Supervise professional and retail operations of the store, including:
  • Delivery and installer service specialists (Professional)
  • Parts and merchandising specialists (Retail)
• Oversee work performed by all team members assigned to the store/HUB store.
• Collaborate with the district manager and store manager on recruiting, testing, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging team members.
• Communicate key information from Team Weekly and monthly store managers’ meetings to all team members.
• Train new team members and conduct performance evaluations, including recommending pay increases.
• Assist in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
• Support the store manager and assistant management team in ensuring safety compliance and training for all team members.
• Monitor and reinforce safety expectations.
• Make sales calls with or without the store manager, potentially on a weekly schedule.
• Maintain the delivery fleet and records for each vehicle.
• Ensure the store/HUB store remains neat, clean, and organized at all times.
• Learn and utilize electronic scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll systems.
• Manage key components of gross profit, including:
  • Monitoring professional customer returns for core and warranty abuse.
  • Reviewing competitive price matches and price overrides for proper use.
  • Tracking individual team member productivity and KPI dashboard daily.
  • Reviewing the monthly P&L statement with the store manager to discuss areas of opportunity.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Completion of Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training, and Manager Development Program.
• Ability to read and match numerical/alpha characters quickly and accurately.
• Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment, and systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• O’Reilly store and/or distribution center experience.
• Completed O’Reilly management training program.
• Advanced computer skills.
• ASE Certification.
• Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
