About the Role
Join our team as a Store Manager I, serving the brave men and women of the military and their families. In this dynamic role, you will manage a retail activity with annual sales under $5M, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth shopping experience. Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise all store personnel, including interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching employees.
- Assist customers and resolve complaints, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Develop and encourage employees through training and opportunities for growth.
- Assist in developing promotional sales in conjunction with CSC HQ staff.
- Oversee competitive price checks and submit pricing adjustments to HQ buying staff.
- Collaborate with vendors and HQ buying staff to execute operations of assigned departments.
- Ensure store recovery, including vending and warehouse operations.
- Serve as key carrier, opening and closing the store as required, including weekends.
- Review monthly P&L statements, comparing actual figures to plan, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
- Enforce Loss Prevention policies, proactively address shrink, and utilize the Alert Line.
- Ensure compliance with established safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements.
- Ensure all employees receive required Coast Guard training, including Civil Rights Awareness and Sexual Harassment Prevention.
- Ensure all CG and Federal required posters are prominently displayed in an area visible to all employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in a position equivalent to a department manager or assistant manager, demonstrating leadership, operational oversight, and customer service management OR completion of the CGX Leadership Development program (LDP).
- Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds, and stand for long periods of time.
- Demonstrated experience in employee performance management and recruiting activities, including interviewing and candidate evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
- P&L analysis experience.
- Prior retail merchandising experience.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with emphasis in retail or business administration, with at least two years of specialized experience. General business experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Current USCG NAF department manager or assistant manager.
