FLSA: Exempt. Schedule is at the discretion of the company based on needs, with a minimum requirement to work one night per week until 9pm. Reports to: VP of Operations.
About the Role
Directs and manages all phases of store operations to achieve and exceed Boyers Food Markets Store Operating Targets. Focuses on exceeding customer expectations in Red Shirt Service, cleanliness, product quality, and general store presentation.
Responsibilities
- Manages, assists, and supports the RSS Manager in teammate management and HR functions when needed.
- Oversees all store department personnel.
- Backs up the Non-Perishable and RSS Managers in all functions during their absence.
- Responsible for all buying and ordering practices to maximize sales, gross profits, and CTO while maintaining acceptable inventory levels, including regular shelf and ad items.
- Communicates and maintains a good working relationship with corporate management and vendors.
- Oversees all departments for proper shrink/damage control.
- Ensures proper signing and tagging procedures are followed in all departments.
- Maintains store presentation standards (GOLD Look).
- Responsible for achieving all store sales targets, gross profits, payroll, and expense categories.
- Knowledgeable in all corporate procedures, policies, and programs.
- Assists in achieving 100% compliance with all state, county, or local codes/laws related to business operations.
- Oversees and assists in monitoring cash accountability, accurate store bookkeeping, and departmental inventories.
- Ensures maximum utilization of store teammates through effective scheduling, counseling, orientation, evaluation, training, motivation, and supervision.
- Oversees the cleaning and sanitation program for the store.
- Holds weekly sales meetings, daily huddles, and participates in staffing meetings.
- Responsible for all company safety programs within the store.
- Maintains all company security standards and procedures, including use of the DVR/camera system.
- Ensures compliance with receiving procedures in accordance with company policies.
- Responsible for all teammate/customer accident reporting and investigating directly or by oversight.
- Monitors the payroll system and scheduling program.
- Completes payroll procedures and performs weekly labor projections to meet store SPEH goals.
- Oversees completion of monthly WIC audits.
- Oversees the physical inventory process and procedures.
- Familiar with and abides by all aspects of the Boyers Food Markets Teammate Handbook.
- Performs any additional duties as assigned by corporate management.
- Assists customers and ensures proper service levels and courtesy from all teammates.
- Meets and greets customers, assists with special orders, and answers questions.
- Suggests products, performs price checks, and brings customers to product locations.
- Assists in maintaining and promoting the Red Shirt Service Culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of a high school education; college preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the supermarket or related retail industry, with at least 3 years of successful experience in a departmental management position.
Skills
- Working knowledge of the supermarket industry and ability to make effective decisions and provide leadership.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for dealing with customers, teammates, and vendors.
- Basic math skills to calculate discounts, gross margins, markups, percentages, portions, ratios, and volume.
- Basic PC operating skills, including use of MS Office, email, and all company-utilized software programs.
- Excellent organization and follow-up/follow-through skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet or exceed deadlines and goals.
