Store - Huck's Assistant Manager

About the role

This is a full-time position with an opportunity to become an owner as part of a 100% employee-owned company. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of their shift, ensuring it contributes to the store’s profitability and supporting management functions. Upon completion of training programs and as openings become available, the Assistant Manager may be promoted to Store Manager, with relocation options negotiable.

Responsibilities

• General Management: Provide prompt and courteous customer service, including using the gasoline intercom to greet customers and adhering to Best In Class standards; observe assigned shift operating hours; work the Store Manager’s days off and at least two evening shifts per week; perform tasks assigned by the Store Manager; communicate effectively with store associates and management; follow all federal, state, and local laws; model appropriate conduct; ensure the Store Manager is aware of sales, cash, or operating discrepancies; ensure all associates wear proper uniforms and deliver prompt, courteous service.
• Bookkeeping: Complete shift change reports at the beginning and end of each shift; accurately record all hours worked; ring all sales as outlined in the Policy Manual and Basic Training Manual; accurately record over rings and refunds; complete daily paperwork and make store deposits as directed.
• Human Resources: Treat all associates with dignity and respect; use proper personnel management techniques; advise the Store Manager of any personnel situations or policy violations affecting store performance.
• Security: Ensure associate shift procedures are followed; maintain a safe shopping and working environment; secure cash and merchandise according to company policy; follow vendor check-in procedures.
• Merchandising: Keep coolers, drink boxes, shelves, and displays fully stocked and fronted; clean and maintain equipment; ready high-margin products such as coffee and fountain drinks as directed; use correct pricing for all merchandise.
• Maintenance: Ensure store appearance meets company standards; keep floors clean, waxed, and buffed; maintain clean store windows and glass; sweep and maintain the parking lot; ensure restrooms are clean and functional; report maintenance issues requiring assistance to the Store Manager; keep food service areas clean and follow sanitation procedures.
• Safety: Ensure proper lifting procedures are followed; ensure correct use of ladders; use wet floor signs as required; report accidents promptly to the Store Manager and corporate office.
• Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App: Actively promote the Huck’s Bucks Loyalty app to customers; communicate its benefits; monitor transactions for misuse of points or discounts; assist customers with sign-up and usage.
