About the Role

As a NAPA Counter Sales associate, you are the “face of the retail store” and the go-to person for customers entering our stores with all of their automotive needs. While mechanical expertise (e.g., tearing down and rebuilding an engine) is a plus, the key requirement is a background and knowledge of automotive parts. This role is ideal whether you're seeking a long-term career as a Parts Specialist, part-time or full-time work, or an entry point to explore other opportunities within NAPA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide auto parts answers and solutions for retail and wholesale customers in person at the counter or over the phone.
  • Use your parts knowledge to assist other NAPA team members in answering customer questions.
  • Deliver outstanding customer care and interactions with everyone who visits the store.
  • Bring customer focus and high energy to our fast-paced environment.
  • Welcome retail customers and engage with them to provide a positive experience.
  • Utilize technology, including computers, cash registers, telephones, and paper catalog systems.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Previous experience in a parts store or the automotive industry, or a willingness to learn all things auto parts.
  • High School Diploma or GED; technical or trade school courses or degree are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort in fast-paced retail environments.
  • Strong listening skills and empathy for customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background or passion for the automotive industry, heavy equipment, farm industry, diesel, marine, or dealership.
  • Experience in a parts store, auction, retail store, or auto body/collision.
  • Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems.
  • Customer-centric mindset (both external and internal).
  • ASE Certifications.
