About the role
The Salvation Army seeks a part-time employee to assist in the sorting, pricing, and preparation of donated items for display in the store. Responsibilities include sorting and pricing items, assisting in maintaining store and sorting room orderliness and cleanliness, and interacting with customers.
Responsibilities
- Sorting Room Responsibilities (35%): Receives, sorts, and prices donated items for display.
- Customer Service Responsibilities (35%): Assists customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items.
- Store and Sorting Room Orderliness and Cleanliness Responsibilities (30%): Maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of the store and sorting room area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, ANDOne year retail or warehouse experience preferred, ORAny equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
- Ability to operate a cash register, perform routine mathematical computations, and count change.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
- Moderate physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying light to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
- Work is sometimes performed in a normal store or warehouse environment.
