About the role

The role is for a Store Clerk at Indiana State Prison, a level-four maximum-security facility in Michigan City, Indiana.

Responsibilities

  • Authorize the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and authorize all goods received.
  • Contact vendors regarding partial shipments and/or misorders.
  • Maintain detailed inventory records and records of items ordered.
  • Evaluate and recognize record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure proper storage procedures and rotation of stock for perishable items.
  • Make recommendations on purchase of new equipment for warehouse and maintenance required in building.
  • Oversee and assemble equipment received in “knocked down” condition.
  • May ensure the security of incarcerated individuals staff assigned to the warehouse.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items and inventory control procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of state regulations in handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables.
  • Able to train inmates and staff in proper operation of all equipment and proper methods of storage.
  • Able to maintain detailed, accurate inventory and purchasing records.
  • Able to operate forklift, hand-truck and other mechanical equipment in warehouse.

Pay
