Store Cashier

Responsibilities

• Receive and disburse money in establishments other than financial institutions.
• Use electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment.
• Process credit or debit card transactions and validate checks.
• Assist customers in the showroom store, including picking products, stocking shelves, repackaging, pricing items, processing orders, and taking payment.
• Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures or policies.
• Resolve customer complaints by providing information and assistance.
• Calculate total payments received during a time period and reconcile them with total sales.
• Compute and record totals of transactions.
• Greet customers entering the establishment.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change to customers.
• Maintain periodic balance sheets of transaction amounts and counts.
• Keep checkout areas clean and orderly, including mopping floors and emptying trash cans.
• Monitor checkout stations to ensure adequate cash availability and appropriate staffing.
• Process merchandise returns and exchanges.
• Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
• Request information or assistance using paging systems.
• Stock shelves and mark prices on shelves and items.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Prefer a high school diploma.
• Must have the ability to walk, stand, and lift products for the majority of the work shift.
