About the role
The position involves leading and managing a team of 2 or more full-time employees, including Assistant Manager(s), Lead Representative(s) and Customer Service Representative(s). Recruitment, hiring, and training of employees are key responsibilities, along with ensuring the store is clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervises the activities of 2 or more full-time employees.
- Recruits, hires, and trains employees, focusing on excellent customer service.
- Maintains a professional and supportive image among subordinates and supervisors.
- Schedules employees within Company guidelines to meet business needs.
- Hires, trains, counsels, mentors, motivates, and separates employees.
- Develops and manages relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Trains employees on customer service, store image, and marketing execution.
- Trains employees on safety procedures and promotes safety awareness.
- Mentors and trains employees on cash awareness and expectations.
- Ensures employees complete all required training in a timely manner.
- Communicates with employees through periodic meetings and ensures timely communication.
- Evaluates and develops specific action plans to address store needs.
- Organizes and maintains all store files and manuals.
- Manages and supervises store employees to ensure accurate and timely completion of required reports and correct pricing of merchandise.
- Ensures all required employment-related posters and signs are accessible.
- Analyzes daily sales and expenses, taking appropriate actions to maximize sales and net profits.
- Budgets and forecasts P&L lines, understands and manages merchandise margins, and safeguards and accounts for all money received and disbursed.
- Notifies Market Manager of any sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1 to 2 years of retail work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
- Ability to supervise and train for the use of equipment, tools, and materials listed in the Customer Service Representative (CSR), Lead CSR (LSR), and Store Assistant (SA) job descriptions.
- Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the CSR, LSR, and SA job descriptions.
- Ability to use a computer to complete and analyze reports, inventory control, cash control, employment-related forms, etc.
- A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Open availability.
- Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in English.
- Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described above.
- Ability to work in the conditions described below.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to work alone.
- Be exposed to occasional noise.
- Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
- Exposed to extreme cold temperatures while working in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
- Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead.
- Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist.
- Grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for entire shift.
- Reach overhead for objects.
- Bend and twist at waist.
- Communicate orally.
- Operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
- Stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
- May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.
