About the role
The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in supporting store performance, developing talent, and creating an exceptional experience for every customer who walks through our doors. This role partners closely with the Store Manager to lead the team, drive sales, and maintain operational excellence while fostering a positive and engaging culture.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Store Manager to recruit, onboard, train, and develop a high-performing team of Optical Stylists and retail associates
- Lead by example in delivering SEE's signature styling experience and personalized customer service
- Support daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, inventory management, and loss prevention
- Drive sales performance through clienteling, relationship building, and consistent execution of sales behaviors
- Conduct daily team huddles and support ongoing coaching conversations that motivate and develop team members
- Maintain SEE's visual merchandising standards and ensure the store remains organized, inviting, and brand-right
- Coordinate with the in-store Optometrist to create a seamless patient and retail experience
- Leverage optical expertise to support troubleshooting, adjustments, dispensing, measurements, and optical training for the team
- Analyze store performance metrics and assist in implementing action plans to achieve sales and operational goals
- Serve as Manager on Duty and step into leadership responsibilities when the Store Manager is unavailable
- Support local community outreach, networking, and business development initiatives
- Maintain availability to work evenings, weekends, and peak business periods
Requirements
- 2+ years of retail leadership experience preferred
- Licensed Optician in the State of Massachusetts preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of optical dispensing, lens products, frame styling, and patient care
- Proven ability to drive sales results and develop team performance
- Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
- Able to build meaningful customer relationships and foster repeat business
- Experience with POS systems, inventory management, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to pass a background check
