Store Assistant Manager

About the role

As Assistant Store Manager, you are the right-hand to the Store Manager! You'll become well trained to cover all aspects of store operations, achieve key performance and financial objectives, as well as directional and performance planning. Overall, we are looking for someone who takes pride in being a great merchant, a passionate leader, and committed to making sure every customer experience is better than the last!

Responsibilities

• Assists with the management of all aspects of Store operations, including customer service, store condition and the selection, training, supervising, and performance management of Store Sales Associates
• Assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery trucks, organizes merchandise, and transfers merchandise from stockroom to store
• Collaborates with team members to ensure the store meets or exceeds the established merchandising standards for product quality, presentation and visual marketing/merchandising
• Keep up with reporting to support sales, earnings, and minimizing shrink
• Assumes full management responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager

Requirements

• Two (2) or more years of grocery or retail management experience
• Hands-on leadership experience in grocery retail (e.g. Produce, Deli/Bakery, or Meat/Seafood departments) is highly preferred but not required
• High School Diploma / Equivalent
• Successfully pass pre-employment checks, including a drug screen and criminal background check
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record per GFS policy
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Any candidate who works for a Gordon Food Service customer must provide a letter of support from their management if selected for the interview process

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting above shoulder height

Schedule

Ability to work a flexible, full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Store Hours: Monday to Saturday 7 AM - 7 PM and Sunday 9 AM - 6 PM
