Responsibilities
- Customer Satisfaction:
- Provides and coaches store staff to deliver excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly and attentive manner.
- Greets customers upon entry and thanks them as they leave; offers assistance and suggestions.
- Resolves customer issues professionally and ensures prompt, courteous service.
- Rings up sales accurately on the cash register, handling cash, checks and other payment types.
- Performs multi-function operations of fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, telecom transactions, etc.
- Resolves routine customer concerns within established guidelines.
- Reports to work on time and adheres to dress and appearance standards.
- Facility Condition:
- Maintains awareness of overall store facility condition; notifies Store Manager of equipment failure, maintenance or supply needs.
- Performs or directs staff to perform general housekeeping duties including:
- Sweeping and mopping floors.
- Dusting and/or washing windows, counters, displays, store areas and bathrooms.
- Picking up and disposing of trash, litter or debris.
- Cleaning/checking equipment such as coffee machines, beverage/ice/refrigeration units, and other tools.
- Merchandising:
- Monitors and ensures product areas are stocked, rotated and displayed for freshness, appeal and customer access.
- Prepares or assists in preparing product inventory orders.
- Makes price changes per Company and/or brand guidelines; places advertising and pricing signage inside and outside the facility.
- Sales Controls:
- Ensures all shift sales are completed per Company policies by entering transactions correctly, placing payments in the register and making accurate change.
- Coaches store employees on proper transaction entry and procedures.
- Financial Controls:
- Keeps accurate cash, sales, payroll and inventory control records; accounts for variances.
- Prepares and transmits daily bookkeeping, invoicing and gasoline data; completes daily banking.
- Troubleshoots daily close-out and shift sales analysis.
- Finalizes, transmits and processes weekly time and attendance records and payroll.
- Notifies Store Manager of any sales, cash, inventory or operating discrepancies.
- Follows Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
- Staffing Controls:
- Oversees store employee activities as directed by the Store Manager.
- Performs shift supervision and assumes Store Manager responsibilities when needed.
- Schedules employees within Company guidelines to meet business needs and maximize customer service.
- Performs and trains staff on all duties of Customer Service Representative and Lead CSR positions per Company standards.
- Assists with employee counseling; provides feedback to improve performance and inputs on reviews.
- Implements non-discriminatory management practices in hiring, training, counseling, mentoring, motivating and separating employees.
- Security Controls:
- Assists Store Manager in maintaining a safe environment for employees and customers; protects Company assets.
- Reports all incidents (injury, theft, property damage, sanitation issues, etc.) to the Store Manager.
- Reports any situation involving unsafe, unlawful or unethical conduct.
- Administrative Controls:
- Prepares or assists in preparing periodic sales, product and operating reports as directed.
- Attends job-related meetings (may require irregular hours).
- Controls merchandise, cash shortages and other selling expenses.
- Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels and performs shift audits.
- Performs duties associated with shift change including counting the cash drawer and completing end-of-shift reports.
- Provides regular and predictable onsite attendance.
- Performs all duties with minimal supervision.
- Completes daily store reports and other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 months to 1 year of retail and management work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic business and customer service principles including planning, organizing, resource management and leadership.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and understandably.
- Ability to handle customers, unanticipated problems or events using standard procedures.
- Ability to work as scheduled and arrive to work on time.
- Ability to operate cash registers, scanners, hot/cold beverage dispensers and other equipment/tools.
- Ability to perform all essential duties listed.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required.
- Ability to work opposite shifts of the Store Manager.
- Ability to have open availability.
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to cold or warm temperature extremes; occasional work in walk-in cooler/freezer and outdoors.
- Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
- Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
- Grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift (requires eye-hand coordination).
- Push/pull with arms up to 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
- Reach overhead for objects.
- Bend, twist at waist, stoop, kneel, squat, push and pull.
- Communicate orally and operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
- Stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
- May require climbing a ladder to store/retrieve materials or place/remove signs.
Work Environment
- Approximately 95% of work performed indoors; may clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
- Exposure to extreme cold temperatures in walk-in cooler/freezer.
- Occasional exposure to noise.
- Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
Pay
Hiring Range: $17.05 to $19.85
