About the role

This position involves overseeing store operations, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining facility conditions, managing merchandising, sales, financial and staffing controls, and upholding security and administrative standards. The role includes shift supervision and assuming Store Manager responsibilities when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Satisfaction:
    • Provide and coach store staff to deliver excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
    • Greet customers upon entry and thank them upon exit; offer assistance and recommendations.
    • Provide prompt, courteous service and professionally resolve customer issues.
    • Operate the cash register accurately, handling money, checks, and other payment types.
    • Perform multi-function operations including fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, and telecom transactions.
    • Resolve routine customer concerns within established guidelines.
    • Report to work on time and adhere to the dress and appearance code.
  • Facility Condition:
    • Maintain awareness of the store’s overall condition; notify the Store Manager of equipment failures or maintenance needs.
    • Perform or direct general housekeeping duties, including:
      • Sweeping, mopping, or cleaning floors.
      • Dusting or washing windows, counters, displays, and bathrooms.
      • Picking up and disposing of trash, litter, or debris.
      • Cleaning and checking equipment such as coffee machines, beverage units, refrigeration units, and other tools.
  • Merchandising:
    • Monitor and ensure product areas are stocked, rotated, and displayed for freshness, appeal, and easy customer access.
    • Prepare or assist in preparing product inventory orders.
    • Make price changes in accordance with Company and/or brand guidelines.
    • Place advertising and pricing signage inside or outside the facility, including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows.
  • Sales Controls:
    • Ensure all shift sales are completed according to Company policies.
    • Enter and coach store employees to enter all transactions accurately at the time of purchase.
    • Handle payments, place them in the register, and make correct change.
  • Financial Controls:
    • Maintain accurate cash, sales, payroll, and inventory control records; account for variances.
    • Prepare and transmit daily bookkeeping, invoicing, and gasoline data.
    • Complete daily banking and troubleshoot daily close-out and shift sales analysis.
    • Finalize, transmit, and process weekly time and attendance records and payroll.
    • Notify the Store Manager of any sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies.
    • Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
  • Staffing Controls:
    • Oversee store employees as directed by the Store Manager; perform shift supervision and assume Store Manager responsibilities when needed.
    • Schedule employees within Company guidelines to maximize customer service and maintain store image.
    • Perform and train all duties of the Customer Service Representative and Lead CSR positions.
    • Assist with employee counseling; provide feedback to improve performance and contribute to performance reviews.
    • Implement non-discriminatory management skills in hiring, training, counseling, mentoring, motivating, and separating employees.
  • Security Controls:
    • Assist the Store Manager in maintaining a safe environment for employees and customers and protecting Company assets.
    • Report all incidents (e.g., employee or customer injury, theft, property damage, improper sanitation) to the Store Manager.
    • Report any situation involving unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
  • Administrative Controls:
    • Prepare or assist in preparing periodic sales, product, and operating reports as directed by the Store Manager.
    • Attend job-related meetings, which may require irregular hours.
    • Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses.
    • Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
    • Perform duties associated with shift change, such as counting the cash drawer and completing end-of-shift reports.
    • Provide regular and predictable onsite attendance.
    • Perform all duties with minimal supervision.
    • Complete daily store reports and other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 6 months to 1 year of retail and management work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic business and customer service principles, including planning, organizing, resource management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to handle unanticipated problems or events using standard procedures.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts, including arriving on time.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as cash registers, scanners, beverage dispensers, and other machines or tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Ability to work opposite shifts of the Store Manager and maintain open availability.

Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in walk-in coolers/freezers and outdoors.
  • Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
  • Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
  • Grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for an entire shift, requiring eye-hand coordination.
  • Push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
  • Reach overhead for objects.
  • Bend and twist at the waist.
  • Communicate orally and operate a cash register or computer keyboard.
  • Stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
  • Stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
  • May require climbing a ladder to store/retrieve materials or place/remove signs.
  • Ability to work alone and be exposed to occasional noise.

Work Environment

  • Perform approximately 95% of work indoors but may be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, or take out garbage.
  • Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in walk-in coolers/freezers.
  • Exposure to occasional noise.
  • Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Pay

$17.00 to $21.00 per hour
