Storage & Virtualization Engineer

We are seeking experienced Storage & Virtualization Engineers to support our AFCENT NOSC contract at Shaw AFB. The AFCENT mission delivers combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. We support the AFCENT Commander, USCENTCOM, coalition and joint partners, and warfighters who rely on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, partner networks, and other command-and-control systems. The AFCENT NOSC program focuses on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support, ensuring the AFCENT’s theater communications and IT infrastructure remains ready, secure, and available.

Responsibilities

• Provide administration, installation, operation, and maintenance support for applications, systems, and infrastructure equipment supporting NOSC networks.
• Monitor the security posture (STIG compliance, patching, vulnerability mitigation, and end-point protection compliance) of NOSC network devices and systems.
• Execute remediation actions to ensure STIG compliance, patching, vulnerability mitigation, and end-point protection compliance of NOSC network devices and systems.
• Maintain server room, including enforcing and monitoring equipment installations, proper cable maintenance, and cleanliness.
• Engineer and maintain network layer architecture and systems design, including architecture diagrams and rack elevation drawings.
• Monitor NOSC network and systems status using standard network management platforms and remediate outages and events as required.
• Coordinate Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) for scheduled maintenance and maintain updates of all spare parts and components of the NOSC domain.
• Conduct and monitor data backup and recovery for servers and applications.
• Respond to and resolve tickets and incidents in accordance with local NOSC policies and procedures.
• Provide desktop/client support for NOSC networks, including desktop imaging, hardware/software troubleshooting, and peripheral installation and support.
• Create and maintain standard and elevated user accounts, including cloud mail accounts.
• Coordinate with and assist equipment custodian to complete equipment inventories and prepare equipment for disposition and disposal via DLA and DRMO procedures.
• Control, safeguard, configure, and provide touch maintenance of encryption devices.
• Participate in new technology rollouts on the NOSC domain/networks.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience; or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Firewall experience.
• Experience conducting framing of pleadings to identify alleged violations of law, regulations, or policy/guidance.

Qualifications

• Unix/Linux certification.
• CompTIA Network+ CE or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
• VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA).
• ITIL Foundation (candidate has up to 60 days to acquire this certification).

Clearance

Department of Defense Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance.
