Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement VMware virtualization platforms to support enterprise workloads and business-critical applications.
- Develop infrastructure architectures that maximize availability, scalability, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
- Engineer compute, storage, and virtualization solutions that align with capacity, performance, and business continuity requirements.
- Lead infrastructure lifecycle initiatives, including hardware refreshes, platform upgrades, and technology migrations.
- Deploy, configure, and optimize VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
- Engineer and maintain VMware features including High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), vMotion, Storage vMotion, and Distributed Switches.
- Plan and execute VMware version upgrades, patching strategies, and lifecycle management.
- Perform infrastructure assessments and recommend architectural improvements based on workload analysis and performance metrics.
- Design and manage enterprise SAN, NAS, and software-defined storage environments.
- Engineer storage provisioning, LUN allocation, datastore configuration, storage replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Optimize storage performance through proper tiering, multipathing, caching, and capacity planning.
- Configure Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NFS connectivity while maintaining storage availability and redundancy.
- Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, PowerCLI, or similar tools to streamline infrastructure deployment and administration.
- Analyze system performance across virtualization, compute, storage, and networking layers.
- Identify infrastructure bottlenecks and implement tuning strategies to improve overall system performance.
- Create repeatable deployment standards and infrastructure-as-code practices where applicable.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues involving virtualization, storage, server hardware, and networking.
- Produce engineering documentation, implementation guides, technical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in infrastructure planning, architecture reviews, and disaster recovery testing.
- Provide Tier III engineering support for production environments and major incident resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience.
- Extensive experience designing and supporting VMware vSphere environments.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise storage architecture and administration.
- Experience with Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, or comparable enterprise storage platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SAN architecture, storage replication, and multipathing.
- Experience implementing VMware vSAN or hyperconverged infrastructure solutions.
- Proficiency with PowerShell, PowerCLI, or infrastructure automation tools.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server, Linux, networking fundamentals, and Active Directory.
- Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure deployments, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
