About the role

The storage specialist will maintain systemic storage bin locations in WMS by verifying that they accurately match the dimensions and characteristics of the physical storage location, follow the approved naming schema, are properly labeled and marked, and are accurately represented on the associated planograph drawing with the Government Storage Analyst.

Responsibilities

  • Create and analyze various warehouse storage plans
  • Evaluate space utilization, material flow, and accessibility, and make necessary adjustments to optimize the proposed layout
  • Communicate effectively both written and orally to both government and contractor personnel to facilitate re-warehousing efforts
  • Maintain systemic storage bin locations in WMS
  • Verify that they accurately match the dimensions and characteristics of the physical storage location
  • Ensure storage bins are added, modified, and removed in a timely manner to efficiently facilitate other distribution center processes
  • Ensure created storage bins follow the approved naming schema, are properly labeled and marked, and are accurately represented on the associated planography drawing in coordination with the Government Storage Analyst
  • Identify occupied locations in WMS that fall below 50% density (measured as volume in WMS) and direct re-warehousing that reduces multiple locations for the same materiel
  • Increase overall density for the distribution center
  • Improve pick time for faster moving materiel, and results in additional vacant locations for new inductions
  • Ensure material is stowed on time in properly sized locations that is appropriate for the material in accordance with SOPs and acceptable performance levels
  • Analyze storage locations to ensure the distribution center has sufficient space to complete stows of new inductions and bin to bin transactions of existing stock
  • Work closely with the Government Storage Analyst to make recommendations on redesign of bulk locations to maximize the use of storage space
  • Prepare and submit the Storage Space Management Report (SSMR) semi-annually or as often as required

Requirements

  • Experience shall include a minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse operations like the size and complexity to the operations offered in this contract
  • Experience will include a minimum of 2 years of experience using automated warehouse management systems or equivalent within the past 5 years
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Able to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Warehousing experience
  • Forklift experience
  • Able to multitask and demonstrate diligence
  • Dependable, responsible, and fulfills obligations
  • A valid California Driver’s License

Qualifications

  • US Citizen
  • Active secret security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
  • Pass a National Background Check
  • Obtain and maintain Base access and the Common Access Card (CAC)
