Store Protection Specialist

General Purpose

This position provides a visible presence at the Store entrances/exits, mitigating theft and fraud and maintaining a safe and secure environment for Associates and Customers.

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Aids Store Leadership in maintaining a safe and secure environment for both Associates and Customers.
  • Makes eye contact and provides prominent greetings at Store entrances/exits and on sales floor in a Company issued vest/required black attire.
  • Monitors for potential safety issues and removes clutter to ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.

Developing Great Teams & Partnerships

  • Greet Customers with eye contact and smile, providing friendly and courteous service.
  • Treat all Customers and Associates with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Regularly involve oneself with internal and external partners, such as conference calls, scheduled district meetings, and training sessions.

Mitigating Theft & Fraud

  • Monitor entrances/exits and sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior.
  • Gather theft indicators and utilize internal or external intelligence to impact shortage trends.
  • Effectively communicate with Store Leadership and Loss Prevention Leadership.
  • Adhere to Company policy for external theft response.
  • Execute all Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.

Minimizing Operational Shortage

  • Increase Store awareness on effective processes to minimize operational shortage.
  • Train and educate Associates on shortage reduction initiatives.
  • Observe and validate proper checkout procedures for Customers and Associates.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • High School education or equivalent required, AA degree preferred.
  • One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
  • One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
  • Active Security Guard License preferred.
  • Effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the Store team.
  • Excellent Customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.
  • Complies with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions, including but not limited to, additional background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting and/or drug and alcohol testing.

Physical Requirements/ADA

  • Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
  • Ability to raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs., from one level to another (includes upward pulling).
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch (frequency and duration will vary per daily business need).
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.

The base pay range for this role is $17.50 - $18.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
