Storage Engineer I
About the role
The primary responsibilities for this position are to implement and maintain datacenter backup and storage systems. Review performance of platform, adjust as necessary. Manage and maintain software and firmware levels of systems on a regular basis. Secondary responsibilities include management of general datacenter equipment including; storage, compute, console, power, cabling, and virtualization, monitor performance, and troubleshoot/resolve any system problems. Additional duties include providing security analysis, participation in audits, general data center related tasks, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties associated with the Data Center Services Team, directed by DCS Leadership
- Manage, monitor, and maintain backup systems
- Manage, monitor, and maintain storage systems
- Work with System Administration teams and Application Operations teams to validate all systems are backed up based upon requirements
- Perform all pertinent duties with Windows and Linux operating systems
- Create documentation based on standardized templates and update any previous documentation with new changes
- Ensure that all supported systems are highly reliable, secure, and performing at acceptable levels
- Perform root cause analysis of outages and ensure they are repaired
- Review any new patches or releases that would improve performance or are recommended by the vendor
- Continually enhance alarming and system monitoring for servers and network
- Aid in the research, development and deployment of new technologies and multi-vendor integration
- Implement and maintain a consistent backup and disaster recovery plan
- Ensure timely and effective delivery of hardware upgrades, network upgrades and new configurations
- Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new infrastructure hardware and operating systems for voice and data communication networks
- Assist in developing ongoing security strategy
- Perform various projects and tasks assigned by manager
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5 years’ experience with storage systems
- 5 years’ experience with SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) Technologies
- 5 years’ experience with Windows Server operating system
- 5 years’ experience of physical and virtual server builds
- Experience writing scripts to automate common tasks
- Knowledge of Microsoft clustering, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and Windows networking
- Knowledge of TCP/IP with the ability to demonstrate and describe networking fundamentals
- Knowledge of virtualization principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple projects and team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, associate degree in combination with significant experience will be considered in lieu of degree

Pay
$60,000 – $79,000 per year + annual performance-based bonus
Schedule
Minimum of 4 days weekly in the office, hybrid schedule.
