About the role

Employment Type: ALLETE - Non-Union
FLSA Status: Exempt

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee overhead distribution systems ensuring they meet industry standards and company requirements.
  • Develop underground distribution networks to create efficient and reliable systems.
  • Support the design of distribution substations, integrating cutting-edge technologies and practices.
  • Troubleshoot power quality issues, providing innovative solutions to enhance system performance.
  • Review and design solar interconnects, enabling seamless integration of solar projects into the grid.
  • Identify and manage age and asset renewal projects, ensuring the continued reliability and efficiency of the distribution network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required. Electrical Engineering degree - OR - Mechanical or Civil Engineering degree with one year of utility experience preferred.
  • No experience required Utility Engineering intern experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering principles.
  • Experience with distribution systems and utilities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy sources and their integration into the grid.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Pay

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $67,000 - $84,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.

Schedule

This position may require occasional travel to project sites.
