Storage and Data Protection Subject Matter Expert (SME)

About the role

Vision IT is seeking an experienced Storage and Data Protection Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise infrastructure operations at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH), Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise virtualized multi-tenant data centers supporting secure hybrid cloud environments.
• Administer enterprise storage platforms, virtualized storage, compute, networking, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, documentation, and technical checklists supporting enterprise virtualization operations.
• Manage virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix Xen, and associated management tools.
• Administer storage, networking, and server infrastructure supporting SIPRNet and other classified DoD environments.
• Coordinate virtualization initiatives with enterprise engineering teams, Network Control Centers (NCC), and local base personnel.
• Perform first-line troubleshooting and coordinate issue resolution with enterprise engineering organizations and local support personnel.
• Participate in infrastructure modernization efforts supporting enterprise virtualization and cloud migration initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum of 8+ years of enterprise infrastructure, storage, virtualization, or systems engineering experience.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise environments.
• Experience administering enterprise Storage Area Networks (SAN), virtualization, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Strong experience supporting VMware enterprise technologies.
• Experience working in classified network environments including SIPRNet.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

• Certifications: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Data Center, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Data Center, NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Advanced Professional (VCAP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Enterprise DoD Data Center Operations, DISA STIG implementation, RMF compliance, Enterprise Backup and Disaster Recovery, Storage Performance Optimization, Multi-site enterprise replication, Hybrid Cloud deployments, Enterprise VDI environments, Pacific Theater or global DoD infrastructure support.
