Storage Administrator IV
Primary Purpose
The Storage Administrator IV is a senior practitioner who leads complex operational changes, performance optimization, and lifecycle upgrades across enterprise storage platforms, partnering closely with engineering and application teams to sustain high availability and consistent service quality.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead complex provisioning, migrations, and fabric changes while minimizing service risk.
- Optimize performance through workload analysis, cache/tier tuning, and path balancing.
- Implement replication, snapshot policies, and backup integration aligned to RPO/RTO targets.
- Drive capacity planning and hardware refreshes, providing data-driven forecasts and recommendations.
- Automate routine tasks and enforce configuration standards via scripts and templates.
- Resolve advanced incidents and mentor junior team members on troubleshooting methods.
- Communicate planned changes and potential impacts to Engineers, Product Managers, and support teams.
- Uphold SLA adherence through proactive monitoring, trend analysis, and health checks.
- Maintain high quality documentation, diagrams, and SOPs supporting consistent operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent years of work experience.
- 5+ years in enterprise storage administration (SAN/NAS), including fabrics and multipathing.
- Proficiency with one or more enterprise storage vendor platforms and backup solutions.
- Strong scripting capability (PowerShell/Bash) and hands-on experience with monitoring and ITSM tools.
- Able to lead complex changes and mentor junior team members.
- Excellent communication, incident management, and prioritization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud file/block services (e.g., Azure Files, AWS EBS/FSx) and hybrid data mobility.
- Relevant vendor certifications (NetApp, Dell/EMC, Pure, HPE) and ITIL Foundation.
Pay
Salary Range: $125,040 - $187,560
