About the Role

The Stockroom Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of an on-site customer stockroom, ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, control, and distribution of materials, merchandise, and supplies. This role provides leadership and direction to Stockroom Associates and Leads, while maintaining a safe, organized, and customer-focused environment. The Stockroom Supervisor oversees staffing and performance, drives inventory accuracy and replenishment, manages customer and internal requests, ensures compliance with company and customer safety standards, and partners with branch and customer leadership to support operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Supervision

    • Supervise, schedule, and direct the daily work of Stockroom Leads and Associates, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback.
    • Set and monitor individual and team performance expectations; address performance issues and support employee development.
    • Foster a collaborative, accountable work environment and lead by example in safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Inventory & Order Management
    • Oversee the receipt, verification, storage, and distribution of inventory and materials, ensuring quantities and products match purchase orders and shipping documentation.
    • Maintain inventory accuracy through physical counts, cycle counts, audits, and system transactions; investigate and resolve discrepancies with corrective action.
    • Manage replenishment by monitoring stock levels and usage trends, submitting requests to the Montgomery Branch or other designated supply locations, and recommending reorder points and stock adjustments.
    • Evaluate inventory for excess, obsolete, or damaged stock and determine appropriate disposition.
    • Establish and maintain accurate labeling, bin locations, and classifications for new and existing products.
    • Ensure customer and internal orders are processed, fulfilled, and delivered accurately and on time.
    • Maintain documentation of all inbound and outbound material movement, stock adjustments, and damages.
  • Customer & Site Operations
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding product availability, location, and stockroom services.
    • Partner with branch leadership and customer personnel to identify and implement process improvements, service enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe stockroom, storefront, warehouse, and vending environment, including proper storage and accessibility of products and equipment.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all customer-specific safety requirements, company policies, and warehouse operating procedures.
    • Operate and ensure proper, safe use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in accordance with training and company policy.
    • Support and reinforce required safety training and certifications for stockroom staff.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in warehouse, stockroom, inventory management, or material handling operations, including prior supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles, warehouse procedures, and material management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately process, reconcile, and audit inventory transactions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory management/WMS systems, Microsoft Office applications, and related technology.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) and familiarity with OSHA warehouse safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of warehouse/stockroom experience, including at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity, preferred.

Work Environment

Warehouse, stockroom, and vending/storefront areas with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and industrial equipment typical of a warehouse environment.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift materials up to 50 lbs. (with team lift or equipment assistance for heavier items); frequent use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Standard warehouse operating hours, with potential for early morning, evening, or weekend shifts based on customer satisfaction and inventory demands.
  • Adherence to customer-specific PPE and safety protocols (e.g., steel-toed boots, safety vests, eye protection) is always required while on-site.
  • Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities based on shipment schedules, customer orders, and inventory needs, requiring the ability to multitask and make quick, accurate decisions.
  • Regular collaboration with Stockroom Associates, branch leadership, and customer personnel; on-site presence is required.
