Stock Clerk I & II - Goldbelt Tram

Overview

The Goldbelt Tram offers guests an aerial tram ride to Mount Roberts in Juneau, Alaska, where they can enjoy scenic views, explore trails, and learn about Alaska Native culture. The job is based in Juneau and requires relocation.

Responsibilities

• Retail Stock Clerk I:
• Performs customer transactions for retail items, gifts, or pieces of art.
• Explains characteristics and origin of items to customers.
• Maintains a friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous demeanor.
• Aids in various levels of merchandising like inventory, stocking, displaying, tagging, etc.
• Aids in opening or closing procedures.
• Aids in training of staff.
• Records cash receipt transactions.
• Keeps retail space neat and orderly.
• Aids in displaying and stocking sales products.
• Hauls supplies to/from retail location.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
• Retail Stock Clerk II:
• Receives, stores, restocks, secures, distributes, and accounts for goods received at the Tramway through local vendor outlets.
• Repairs and assembles displays and fixtures used to merchandise products for sale.
• Notifies Manager or Supervisor when orders are necessary.

Qualifications

• Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
• Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
• Ability to work all different shifts including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
• Ability to handle stress under pressure.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
• Familiarity with gift shop merchandise artists and vendors, knowing details and location of merchandise to facilitate sales.
• Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a consistent basis.
• Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to customers those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
• Ability to pull, lift and carry supplies and equipment.
• Ability to bend, squat, reach and retrieve items from above and in small, confined areas.
• Mechanical ability to put together display fixtures.
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be at least fourteen (14) years of age and be able to lift 50 lbs. without a problem.
• Must be able to work an eight (8) hour shift if needed with the ability to stand or walk for long hours.
• If applicable, must be able to pass a background check.
• Preferrred Qualifications:
• Current CPR and first aid certificates.
• Prior Tram Operations experience.
• High School Diploma or current enrolment in school.
• Twelve (12) months of Retail experience in the field of receiving and/or stocking.
