Responsibilities

  • Arrive punctually at scheduled shift times ready to work
  • Understand, comply with, and promote Resident Rights
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident health information as required by HIPAA
  • Understand and comply with universal precautions, infection control, isolation, fire, safety, and sanitation practices and procedures
  • Ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors, and co-workers
  • Provide resident care as outlined in the resident care guide/service plan
  • Answer residents’ call signals and respond to door alarms, fire alarms, etc.
  • Complete daily charting and documentation as required
  • Observe and report resident behavior and condition changes (including food/liquid intake/output, vital signs, skin concerns, weight, and signs of injury or neglect)
  • Obtain residents' weight, vitals, and conduct blood sugar checks as directed; report results to the resident care manager/resident care specialist
  • Adhere to procedures regarding equipment, cleaners, and other hazardous materials; report incidents or accidents in a timely fashion
  • Attend mandatory in-service meetings and continuing education opportunities
  • Display a caring, respectful, and positive attitude when addressing residents, family members, and co-workers
  • Capture ancillary supply costs for billable supplies provided to residents
  • Clean up spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed or directed
  • Perform general housekeeping and laundry duties as required
  • Assist with kitchen and dining room tasks associated with resident meals, including preparatory work, serving, cleaning up, setting tables, taking out trash, and other related duties
  • Participate in or lead leisure activities as planned by the Life Engagement team; assist and remind residents to participate in activities
  • Perform other duties as requested within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job

Requirements

  • High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) education in process or completed, OR students in nursing, physical therapy, or occupational therapy programs who have proof of completed coursework to qualify to provide the care outlined above
  • First aid and CPR training
  • Basic knowledge of operating a computer and familiarity with Word, Excel, and Outlook in a Windows environment
  • On-the-job training provided
