STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: RETELL Course Instructor (SY26-27)

Responsibilities

• Create and manage the Zoom link for assigned course sections, when applicable.
• Deliver the DESE SEI Endorsement course in accordance with DESE requirements and course expectations.
• Facilitate all scheduled course sessions and maintain a positive learning environment for participants.
• Take and maintain attendance records for each live course session.
• Communicate with registered participants regarding course expectations, assignments, schedules, and attendance.
• Grade assignments and provide feedback through the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Maintain participant progress and support successful course completion.
• Utilize DESE-provided course materials, including the syllabus, slide decks, and other instructional resources.
• Complete all instructor responsibilities required by DESE, OMME, and Boston Public Schools.
• Maintain accurate records of all hours worked and submit timesheets in accordance with OMME and BPS payroll deadlines.
• Record and report all instructional, preparation, grading, participant communication, attendance, LMS management, and other approved course-related hours in order to receive compensation.

Requirements

• Two (2) years experience teaching ESL and/or Bilingual education in K-12 setting, or equivalent or related expertise – OR – two years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting and successful completion of the SEI full course.
• Two (2) years minimum experience providing professional development to teachers either in a university or professional development setting.
• Masters degree or higher in educational or closely related field.
• Experience in or familiarity with online teaching to adults and competency in the use of related technology.
• Completed mandatory training sessions held by DESE and be on the DESE Approved SEI Course Instructors list.

Qualifications

• Fluency in a language other than English; or experience studying another language or living abroad.
• Knowledge of the WIDA 2020 Standards.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts State Frameworks.
• Experience in or familiarity with using an online course management system.
• Experience in or familiarity with online teaching to adults and competency in the use of related technology.

Pay

• Retell Instructor Course Hourly Compensation: $59.39/hour
• Total Maximum Compensation: $3,860.35
• Admin Course Hourly Compensation: $59.39/hour
• Total Maximum Compensation: $1,484.75
