STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: BPS BE/ACTT SECONDARY HUMANITIES MTEL & LICENSURE COACH (SY26-27)

Job Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with approximately five candidates throughout the school year to provide individualized licensure and MTEL coaching.
• Develop personalized study plans and testing timelines based on each candidate's licensure goals and prior experience.
• Curate and recommend MTEL preparation materials and learning resources aligned to individual candidate needs.
• Maintain accurate and complete records for each participant through an individualized Google Doc case file, including coaching notes, study plans, MTEL progress, and next steps; provide timely feedback and support throughout the coaching process and prepare a comprehensive end-of-year licensure progress report for each participant.
• Participate in monthly planning meetings with BE/ACTT staff and instructors.
• Communicate regularly with candidates regarding licensure requirements, preparation strategies, and next steps.
• Collaborate with the broader BE/ACTT team to ensure candidates receive coordinated support across all aspects of the program.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Master’s degree. Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License relevant to the specific content course taught. Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified. Meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
• Communicate digitally using the BPS e-mail system, Google Drive, and other digital resources.
• Demonstrate commitment to diversity and equity, closing the achievement gap, and ensuring all students have access to the highest quality instruction.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with a team, fostering collaboration and growth.
• Expertise in designing and implementing standards-based instruction.
• Flexibility and adaptability in instruction; ability to work with candidates to accomplish goals.
• Commitment to professional growth and learning.
• Experience facilitating and building relationships with adult learners.
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage candidate progress, documentation, and communication across multiple participants.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts educator licensure requirements and pathways.
• Prior experience as a BE/ACTT and/or MTEL instructor, mentor, coach, or partner educator.
• Strong preference for candidates who hold Massachusetts licensure in both English Language Arts and History/Social Studies.
• Experience supporting candidates pursuing secondary humanities licensure pathways.
• Familiarity with MTEL requirements for Middle School English, High School English, Middle School History, and High School History licenses.
• Experience advising educators regarding licensure planning and educator career pathways.

Time Commitment/Compensation

• Develop individualized licensure and MTEL preparation plans, curate instructional resources, maintain coaching documentation, and provide ongoing asynchronous feedback and support (approximately 32 hours).
• Conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one coaching sessions with participants to support MTEL preparation, licensure planning, and progress monitoring (approximately 40 hours).
• Provide additional individual conferencing and follow-up support as needed, including review of MTEL results and revision of study plans (approximately 10 hours).
• Attend five (5) in-person Saturday sessions from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM (15 hours).
• Attend eight (8) monthly planning meetings via video conference with the BE/ACTT Aspiring Teacher Coach and other content instructors (8 hours).
• Attend End-of-Year Celebration in June 2027 (approximately 2.5 hours).
