Sr. Software Engineer (TS/SCI)

About the Role

This team innovated a classified data service to support data-intensive assessment of Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) system performance and effectiveness. We are seeking a software developer to improve existing features and innovate new features for a classified ISR data and analytics service.

This role is located onsite in the Washington DC area (primarily in Reston, VA).

Responsibilities

• Improve algorithm performance, create new algorithms, improve data quality, incorporate new datasets, and enable new analytics.
• Maintain polyglot database environment and associated infrastructure, extend event-driven micro-services, and insert new technologies as appropriate to achieve stakeholder-desired capabilities.
• Interface with the client, stakeholders, military personnel, and data providers to ensure stakeholder buy-in and populate backlog for future innovation.
• Develop predictive models using mathematical optimization, discrete-event simulation, and rules programming to drive business optimization (e.g., tools like IBM CPLEX, Gurobi, SPSS, SAS, R, and Python).
• Analyze diverse data types and structures using Python, PyCharm, VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks, Pandas, NumPy, Dask, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly.
• Deliver data-driven insights through machine learning, statistical modeling, and custom models to forecast trends and suggest optimizations (e.g., supply chain management, pricing, risk assessment, fraud detection).
• Collaborate on solution delivery to ensure effective data management and analysis for business decision-making.
• Maintain technical expertise with version control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab) and CI/CD tools (Docker, Podman, Jenkins).

Requirements

• US Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance or immediate eligibility according to DISS security database.
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in STEM fields.
• 4+ years of Python or Java programming experience.
• 4+ years of experience designing and programming applications in hybrid cloud or on-prem environments.
• Experience with employing, customizing, optimizing, and/or managing database technology and validating data.
• Experience with custom ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) development (not off-the-shelf solutions like Apache Nifi).
• Experience designing algorithms to infer relationships between events or entities.
• Experience prototyping end-to-end solutions on quick timelines for consequential decisions or insights.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree.
• Experience developing, deploying, or integrating generative and agentic AI systems.
• Experience with MongoDB (employing, customizing, optimizing, or managing).
• Experience with Celery or analogous asynchronous task queue technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
• Experience with national or military intelligence capabilities and their use.
• Experience with on-prem infrastructure, databases, and software development tools (installing, provisioning, configuring, securing, maintaining).
• Experience with MVC frameworks (e.g., React.js), Node.js, and Web API design.
