Stillhouse/Powerhouse Operator I

Job Summary

The Stillhouse/Powerhouse Operator I is responsible for maintaining safe and effective operations within the Stillhouse and Powerhouse Departments. They will work with the Stillhouse and Powerhouse Utilities to accomplish assigned tasks throughout their shift.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain process adjustments using the D/3 computer system
• Operate equipment within parameters to achieve desired results
• Inspect equipment in the field, troubleshooting as necessary to maintain production objectives
• Start up and shut down as determined by plant rates
• Troubleshoot mechanical and process problems
• Sample products throughout the process to maintain quality and specifications
• Take readings on equipment as required by departmental policies
• Perform environmental verifications and record as needed
• Train employees new to position
• Aid in the review and creation of production SOPs
• Perform lock outs on assigned equipment
• Complete all required documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations
• Inform supervisor and affected personnel immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or acts
• Follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process plans
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

• Knowledge of the process
• Basic computer skills
• Self-motivated with ability to work under minimal supervision
• Strong commitment to safety
• Ability to perform basic mechanical functions
• Able to use basic hand tools including but not limited to channel-lock pliers, valve, and pipe wrenches
• Able to understand and comply with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements
• Strong problem-solving ability to troubleshoot as needed

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters
• Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, or sitting for long periods of time
• Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
• Climbing stairs, and/or vertical ladders of varying heights
• Lifting objects of minimum of 10lbs, with maximum single-person lift limit of 50lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying
• Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration
• Visually inspecting equipment and verifying information, often in small print
• Driving and/or operating heavy machinery safely and be alert and aware of surroundings at all times
• Applying sideways/upward/downward pressure to tighten and loosen hardware

Education/Training

• 12 to 24 weeks of training with an incumbent Operator I
• Experience in department preferred
