Steward/Driver - Boston University - GSU Catering

Aramark seeks a Steward/Driver who holds a CDL to operate passenger buses, shuttle vans, straight trucks, or other hauling vehicles under 26,000 lb (Class B) or non-air-brake passenger buses (Class C).

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily vehicle inspection form before and after each route.
• Maintain a pleasant, clean atmosphere inside and outside the vehicle.
• Apply all safety equipment and always wear a seat belt while driving.
• Operate company vehicles under 26,000 lb (GVW), transporting passengers or supplies to designated locations.
• Drive defensively, safely, and cautiously in all situations.
• Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive representation of Aramark.
• Pick up and drop off guests at designated locations.
• Act as a concierge resource for guests, demonstrating knowledge of the property and surrounding areas.
• Lift guest luggage up to 80 lb into the vehicle when required.
• Fuel, clean, and inspect the vehicle; identify and report maintenance or safety issues immediately.
• Ensure all vehicle logbooks, including rider-ship information, are completed accurately.
• Work with the Transportation Office dispatcher to fulfill special and group requests.
• May transport equipment to and from the warehouse as a warehouse driver.
• Perform maintenance and safety inspections on service trucks, pickups, trailers, and other vehicles (e.g., checking oil, tires, lights).
• Take vehicles to the car wash as needed.
• Assist with clerical work, including answering phones, dispatching, and other office duties.
• For Dry Storage Drivers: Sell and dispense propane in compliance with federal laws, handling bottles with OPD under 10 lb.
• Operate a cash register, handling cash, traveler’s checks, and credit cards safely and accurately.
• Understand machinery and chemicals used; read and apply information from SDS sheets.
• Attend all scheduled department and safety meetings.
• Share ideas to improve efficiency and operations.
• Follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies, and energy, as well as rules of the road.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older.
• 1+ years of professional driving experience; vehicle mechanical experience and customer service experience preferred.
• Must communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (Class B or C) with a clean driving record showing 5 years of safe driving.
• Must pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a medical card.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and participate in random drug/alcohol testing.
• Must complete and pass a Defensive Driving Course prior to driving a company vehicle.
• May require a passenger endorsement or airbrake endorsement to drive all vehicles.
• Experience driving in all weather conditions, including winter weather and tire chain installation.

Physical Demands

Pay

Hourly rate: $23.92.
