Steward (Dishwasher)

About the role

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the kitchen and service areas. This role ensures that all dishes, utensils, equipment, and workspaces meet health and safety standards. The Steward plays a critical support role in overall kitchen operations, enabling the team to deliver a safe and efficient dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, walls, and work surfaces
• Remove trash and recycling, maintaining clean and safe disposal areas
• Assist with stocking and organizing clean dishes and equipment
• Support kitchen staff with basic prep or tasks as needed
• Ensure adequate supply of clean items during service periods
• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
• Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Food handler’s permit
• Previous dishwashing or kitchen experience preferred
• Must be able to satisfactorily pass a background check and drug screen
