Steward/Dishwasher

About the role

This role will be located at Atlantic Fields, one of Discovery Land Company’s properties outside of Hobe Sound, FL. The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining a very high standard of cleanliness and hygienic state of all kitchens and general back-of-house areas. Support in kitchen setup, servicing, and breakdown for events across the business is also a key part of this role. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Responsibilities

• Work with all culinary and F&B leaders to create exemplary culinary standards and an environment of continual improvement.
• Keep all food preparation areas meticulously clean and tidy.
• Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in all food service areas and for all food service equipment.
• Provide courteous and professional service as well as proper care, movement, and storage of all kitchen-related equipment.
• Ensure all kitchens are well maintained and cleaned prior to and/or after each daily operation, including swift and hygienic garbage removal controls.
• Assist with inventory control of catering equipment and plateware.
• Demonstrate full knowledge of cleaning products and keep these areas properly stocked and cleaned.
• Control linen usage across kitchens, removing soiled items for laundry and refreshing stocks with new inventory as needed.
• Assist culinary staff when needed and perform side work and other cleaning and organizing as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior culinary experience preferred.
• At least three (3) months of guest service experience at a high-end restaurant, resort, private club, or hotel.
• Ability to work flexible work hours/schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
• Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
