Sterilization Technician

About the role

The Sterilization Technician is responsible for keeping dental instruments clean, sanitized, organized and ready for use. This role adheres to OSHA standards and ensures timely sterilization of instruments.

Responsibilities

• Familiar with and follows OSHA standards.
• Ensures instruments are sterilized as soon as feasible upon arrival in central sterilization.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of all sterilization areas.
• Keeps accurate logs of spore testing.
• Monitors and tracks instruments through the sterilization process using the system in place.
• Keeps the dental director informed of any issues or concerns regarding equipment, supplies, or procedures related to sterilization.
• Responds to special requests or needs from providers regarding instruments and handpieces.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but education may be substituted for lack of experience.
• CRCST Certification preferred.
