STERILE SUPPLY TECHNICIAN-SOD

About the role

The STERILE SUPPLY TECHNICIAN-SOD position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham involves operating sterilizing equipment, monitoring and reporting technical issues, managing inventory, and ensuring the sterilization, packaging, and distribution of dental instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate all sterilizing equipment according to current regulations
• Maintain proper inventory of sterilization chemicals and supplies
• Collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect, and/or sterilize dental instruments, trays, and packs, and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures
• Hand wash and cold sterilize equipment as indicated per CDC sterilization guidelines
• Work closely with faculty, staff, and students in a fast-paced clinical environment

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• One (1) year experience in Sterile Supply
• Currently Certified as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) with the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sterilization procedures and infection control practices
• Prior experience in healthcare or dental environments
