Sterile Processing Technician position at University Health 1 (UH1) in Kansas City, Missouri. Full time, 40 hours per week.

About the role

Join our Sterile Processing Department (SPD) team as the go-to expert for cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing surgical instruments. You’ll keep surgical teams running smoothly by preparing surgical case carts, managing supplies, and maintaining inventory.

Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments—ensuring everything is ready for the OR.
• Prepare and pack surgical case carts with precision.
• Receive, store, and distribute supplies and equipment.
• Maintain organization through data entry and inventory control.
• Collaborate across all areas of SPD to support team needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One of the following:
  • Central Service or Instrument Tech certification/program completion,
  • Graduation from a Surgical Tech program, or
  • 5+ years of hands-on instrument tech experience in the Operating Room.
• Familiarity with sterilization equipment and processes.
• Comfortable with computer data entry.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills—friendly, helpful, and collaborative.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of SPD experience.
