Sterile Processing Technician

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of duties in relationship to decontamination, preparation/assembly, sterilization, and distribution of trays/sets, equipment, and supplies with direct supervision.
• Participates in distribution of operating room supplies and trays/sets.
• Performs routine cleaning such as wiping down tables.
• Assembles accurate/complete surgical trays.
• Participates with and monitors the process of building accurate and timely assembling of case carts for emergent/urgent and elective cases.
• Maintains and prevents cross contamination by observing dress codes, environmental policies, and traffic control.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of a Sterile Processing and/or Surgical Technology program, 6 months relevant clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Within 18 months must attain a Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) and/or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) certification.

Skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
