About the role
Transform healthcare by decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing instruments, supplies, and equipment for patient care. Clean, culture, test, and operate various sterilizers. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure quality patient care. Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Responsibilities
- Sterilize instruments, equipment, linen, and supplies using various types of sterilizers; load sterilizers and set controls according to specifications; verify sterilization cycle parameters and complete documentation records.
- Identify and assemble instrument procedure trays; wrap packages and handle items following procedure; mark items with identifying data and distribute or store in designated areas; notify management of equipment deficiencies.
- Dispense products for sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies; assign priority to emergency requests and issue supplies based on procedure knowledge; assemble and wrap materials, instruments, and supplies using aseptic technique.
- Disassemble, clean, reassemble, and replace lost or damaged parts on instruments and equipment using approved chemical solutions.
- Apply aseptic technique in daily work assignments; clean and/or safely operate selected department equipment; maintain accurate documentation including lot numbers for sterilized items for tracking and recall.
- Function effectively in crisis situations with sound judgment and appropriate communications; prepare case carts for surgical procedures.
- Perform charge duties as needed; assist in orienting new employees and in process improvement initiatives; demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
- Report abnormal and critical information to the team lead or manager; assist in training OR nurses and related staff; serve as a resource for other hospital departments.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience.
- Basic interpersonal skills.
- Satisfactory completion of orientation.
- Ability to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of the position.
Pay
Compensation range: $17.39 – $24.35 per hour. Employee pay is based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience.
