Responsibilities

A Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for:

• Decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing medical instruments and equipment used in healthcare settings.
• Maintaining strict sterilization standards to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician certification program.
• Certification through CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management).
