The Role
The North Central Surgical Center is seeking a Full-Time Lead Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join their team for the Night Shift, from 10p - 6:30a.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a resource for the SPD department.
- Precepts new hires.
- Helps to ensure unit techs are properly decontaminating area.
- Daily management of the instrument room.
- Maintains the inventory of instrumentation and supplies necessary for the smooth functioning of the instrument room.
- Responsible for the maintenance of purchased and/or borrowed implant sets.
- Communicates and works effectively with all personnel, physicians, and hospital departments.
- Demonstrates dependability and accountability.
- Sets up supplies and instruments for surgery cases to serve mainly at the Main Hospital SPD Department.
- Assembles and wraps material, instruments and supplies according to established aseptic technique.
- Pulls supplies and instruments for all surgical cases.
- Disassembles and cleans equipment using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners.
- Reassembles equipment after cleaning and operates to test for proper functioning; replace lost or damaged parts.
Requirements
- Must be a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 2-3 years experience as Instrument Room Technician.
- Minimum of one (1) year in a Led or Supervisor Role.
- Experience with all types of sterilizers.
- Knows operating room instrumentation.
- Organized in setting up operating room instrument tray.
- Understands operation of steam/ gravity sterilizer.
- Understands Sterrad sterilizers.
- Able to prepare reports and keep records.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
