Sterile Processing Tech Lead - Evenings

The Role

The North Central Surgical Center is seeking a Full-Time Lead Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join their team for the Evening Shift, 2p - 10:30p.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a resource for the SPD department.
• Precepts new hires.
• Helps to ensure unit techs are properly decontaminating area.
• Daily management of the instrument room.
• Maintains the inventory of instrumentation and supplies necessary for the smooth functioning of the instrument room.
• Responsible for the maintenance of purchased and/or borrowed implant sets.
• Communicates and works effectively with all personnel, physicians, and hospital departments.
• Demonstrates dependability and accountability.
• Sets up supplies and instruments for surgery cases to serve mainly at the Main Hospital SPD Department.
• Assembles and wraps material, instruments and supplies according to established aseptic technique.
• Pulls supplies and instruments for all surgical cases.
• Disassembles and cleans equipment using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners.
• Reassembles equipment after cleaning and operates to test for proper functioning; replace lost or damaged parts.

Requirements

• Must be a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2-3 years experience as Instrument Room Technician
• Minimum of one (1) year in a Led or Supervisor Role
• Experience with all types of sterilizers
• Knows operating room instrumentation
• Organized in setting up operating room instrument tray
• Understands operation of steam/ gravity sterilizer
• Understands Sterrad sterilizers
• Ability to prepare reports and keep records
• Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Pay

$25.00 - $29.00/hour based on experience
