Responsibilities

  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments with precision to ensure they are spotless and ready for use.
  • Handle the assembly, processing, and distribution of medical instruments with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Play a crucial role in infection prevention by maintaining the highest sterilization standards.
  • Organize and store instruments efficiently for quick and easy access.
  • Collaborate with operating room staff, hospital floors, and outside departments to ensure everyone is equipped and ready.
  • Perform quality control checks to identify and resolve issues before they become problems.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and contribute to new initiatives that keep the department evolving.
  • Retrieve and process used instruments, using various chemicals to sterilize them for future use.
  • Ensure the organization maintains an adequate inventory of instruments as needed.
  • Provide updates to surgeons and other medical professionals throughout the day.
  • Work with surgical technicians to ensure instruments are properly set in operating rooms for upcoming operations.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Patient, detail-oriented, and able to follow directions effectively.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.

Munson Healthcare requires all employees to be vaccinated or have lab-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella. Employees must also receive an annual flu vaccine or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption.
