Responsibilities
- Promote improved quality and improved patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department.
- Perform routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment and sterile supplies. Responsible for general operating and monitoring of sterilization equipment.
- Maintain records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission and OSHA standards. Maintain Certification, and monitor, instruct and mentor non-certified.
- Facilitate awareness and understanding around what is at stake with patients in the OR.
- Facilitate the department's preparation of staff to pass survey/regulatory assessments.
Requirements
- Computer skills required
- CRCST or CSPDT certification required upon hire or transfer
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
Physical Requirements
Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
Qualifications
- Must be certified as a Certified Sterile Processing Tech (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT).
Skills
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
