Sterile Processing Tech

About the role

The Sterile Processing Tech provides professional nursing care through assessment, planning, treatment and evaluation of the patient. The SPD Tech is responsible for delivering safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, educative and individualized nursing care to patients and families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Computer skills required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred.
• Six months of experience preferred.
• 1–2 years experience as Instrument Room Technician preferred.
• Experience with all types of sterilizers.
• Knowledge of operating room instrumentation.
• Ability to organize the setting up of the operating room instrument tray.
• Understanding of operation of steam/gravity sterilizer and Sterrad sterilizers.
• Ability to prepare reports and keep records.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items required.
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing patient conditions when needed.
• Excellent team player with strong communication skills for interacting with staff, patients and physicians.
