Responsibilities
- Preparing and arranging rooms, including organizing instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies based on department needs.
- Cleaning instruments and equipment using approved detergents and disinfectants. Operating sterilization equipment according to guidelines.
- Efficiently handling inventory by ordering, replenishing, and distributing instruments, reusable medical equipment, and supplies for general and surgical use.
- Following strict safety, environmental, and infection control rules to uphold patient care and office standards.
- Sharing skills with your team. Offering in-service training sessions. Assisting with training Sterile Processing staff. Mentoring entry-level positions.
Requirements
- Familiarity with equipment and instrument sterilization techniques and procedures
- Understanding of simple medical terminology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating tact when dealing with patients and colleagues
- Adherence to best practice safety measures, environmental protocols, manufacturers' guidelines, and infection control practices
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- One year of experience
- One of the following certifications:
- Certified Board Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD)
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
