Responsibilities

  • Preparing and arranging rooms, including organizing instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies based on department needs.
  • Cleaning instruments and equipment using approved detergents and disinfectants.
  • Operating sterilization equipment according to guidelines.
  • Efficiently handling inventory by ordering, replenishing, and distributing instruments, reusable medical equipment, and supplies for general and surgical use.
  • Following strict safety, environmental, and infection control rules to uphold patient care and office standards.
  • Mentoring entry-level positions. Offering in-service training sessions.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with equipment and instrument sterilization techniques and procedures.
  • Understanding of simple medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating tact when dealing with patients and colleagues.
  • Adherence to best practice safety measures, environmental protocols, manufacturers' guidelines, and infection control practices.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • (1) One year of experience.
  • Certification/License/Registration: Must have one of the following certifications/licenses:
    • Certified Board Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD).
    • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
    • Certified Sterile Processing/Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).

Skills

  • Familiarity with sterile processing techniques and procedures.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Safety and infection control knowledge.
