Job Duties
- Supervises the personnel and operations.
- Actively participates in the development of and demonstrates thorough knowledge of the department and system goals and function.
- Establishes internal inventory levels and maintains levels in accordance with set standards.
- Maintains effective communication with appropriate nursing and medical center personnel, as relates to assigned duties.
- Oversees preparation and maintenance of the instrument asset inventory.
- Rounds in the Operating Room and throughout the department each shift to assess what is being utilized and anticipates needs.
- Prioritizes instruments that are needed from preference cards, surgical schedule and emergent and trauma preparedness.
- Affirms and understands the competencies of each member of staff and develops appropriate Performance Improvement program to identify and address weaknesses.
- Maintains sterilization records and related data in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Performs ongoing evaluations of teams, the required services for the surgical suite, inpatient and outpatient units, and equipment and methods.
- Counsels staff when necessary.
Requirements
- Active CRCST, CER or CIS certification.
- 4 years' related work experience.
- 1-year supervisory experience.
- CHL or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
